Ann Curry

Ann Curry, an American journalist and photojournalist who has reported on the natural and military disasters of nearly 45 years. Her focus is on the suffering of people in these areas. Curry has reported on wars all over the world, including in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry, born November 19th 1956 (Agana) was an American journalist, who was an anchor on television. Curry was renowned for her work on reporting human rights issues in war-stricken nations and natural catastrophes. Curry was born in Japan and raised by her Japanese mother. Her father was an U.S. Navy sailor. Curry's parents bonded in Japan in Japan, in which her father was stationed since World War II. Her father was in the military and her family moved around often. Curry was a high school graduate at Ashland Oregon. She graduated in 1978 in 1978 from her school at the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. The exposure she received to different cultures and environments in her early years likely contributed to the empathy with which she approaches international topics. Curry's family relocated often and Curry didn't stay at one school for more than two months. Curry attended various schools including San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia and Virginia. Curry graduated with honors from Ashland high school. While working as an intern for KTVL Channel 10 Medford, Oregan, she began her journey in broadcasting. She became the first woman news reporter at the station, when she was just 22. In the following years, she worked as an anchor/reporter for KGW in Portland Oregon. The following year, she relocated to Los Angeles as a reporter for KBS-TV. In the course of her work with this channel for the duration of six years that she won two Emmy Awards.
